PG&E Work On Lighthouse Avenue The following is a message from the city of Monterey and PG&E regarding night work that is to be done along Lighthouse Avenue this week: “Pacific Gas and Electric Company will be in [sic] working on Lighthouse starting Wednesday, July 23 and ending on Friday, August 1, working from 8:00 p.m. hours to 6:00 a.m. They will be working throughout the evening to upgrade portions of our electric system. Weather and other factors that affect safe working conditions may change their schedule. They will work to minimize disruptions to the greatest extent possible, but you may hear intermittent construction noise. Lighting will also be necessary to complete this work at night. They will work to minimize traffic disruptions to the greatest extent possible, and will keep a lane open in each direction at all times. Parking Enforcement in Neighborhoods Some of you, but I’m going to guess not many of you, know that State Vehicle Code section 22651(k) stipulates that vehicles can’t be parked longer than 72 hours on public streets. It used to be that the City wouldn’t enforce this law unless they were called about a nuisance vehicle that had been left for more than 72 hours, but that changed some time ago. The Parking Division proactively enforces parking restrictions through regular neighborhood patrols to address concerns about abandoned or stored vehicles. The Parking Division understands that certain situations, such as vacations or temporary emergencies, may require a vehicle to remain parked for an extended period. In these cases, residents are encouraged to contact the Parking Enforcement Office at (831) 646-3953 in advance to discuss their circumstances. Please note that providing advance notice does not automatically exempt a vehicle from enforcement, and the Parking Division cannot guarantee an exemption. However, each request will be reviewed individually to determine whether a short-term accommodation is appropriate based on the circumstances.

Carl’s Jr. Update Demolition of Carl’s Jr. began last week. The contractor is conducting the demolition with care and safeguards as there are (were) hazardous substances on the sight. As of Friday of last week, no plans have been turned in to the City for what is to follow.
