There will be considerable disruption to traffic on Lighthouse Avenue, potentially on the order of what happened a few weeks ago (when there was no way to avoid the construction as Drake and Dickman were either blocked or the construction was south of those streets). Of note is that on Wednesday, May 8th, and Thursday, May 9th, construction will be taking place from Drake Avenue south to Lighthouse curve. What this means is that there will be no way to avoid the construction by taking alternate parallel streets such as Hawthorne or Pine. Most likely, Wednesday will be the worst since the work will be on the “outside” (presumably meaning the curb or #2 lanes). As those of us who live in New Monterey know, if you need to get off the Peninsula on either of those days, Highway 68 will probably be the better alternative though it too will back up due to the transference of traffic.
