| City Council Has A Budget Balancing Act Tom Reeves This Wednesday, August 27th, at 4 pm, the City Council will be discussing a number of ways to close a significant gap in the City’s budget. The City’s $110,000,000 general fund budget is running a $10,000,000 deficit. This is truly a “structural” deficit and it’s been on the horizon for many years. The Council will be considering a variety of ways to close the gap. I highly recommend that everyone look at the staff report and more informative is the attachment to the staff report which you can find HERE. Of special interest to this and all neighborhoods is whether to curtail or completely eliminate the Neighborhood and Community Improvement Program or NCIP. This program has been the sole funding source for almost all of the improvements we’ve seen over the past 39 years and there are many more unmet needs throughout our neighborhood and the City. Please lend your voice to the discussion before decisions are made. |
