New Monterey is the area bounded on the North and West by the City of Pacific Grove, on the East by the Monterey Bay and on the South by the tunnel on Lighthouse and the Presidio of Monterey.
The purpose of the New Monterey Neighborhood Association is to preserve and enhance the quality of life and residential quality of the area and to support and enhance business and business development in the commercial districts of the area.

To fulfill its purpose the Association:
Promotes zoning and architectural review, which reflects existing neighborhood character.
Establishes communications channels through newsletters, a web site, annual meetings, and open meetings the second Monday of each month.
Establishes and maintains a close working relationship with the City Council, Planning Commission, other Boards and Commissions of the City of Monterey and city staff.
Inform members of pending actions, current status, and decisions regarding items before the Planning Commission or City Council and other Boards and Commissions of the City through news letters and general membership meetings.
Nominates and supports the election or appointment of qualified candidates to City Council and boards and commissions of the City of Monterey.
Supports and promotes small locally owned and controlled businesses and business development in the commercial districts of the area in character with the historic fabric of the community.
